Evoke News Commemorates Earth Week

To honor the passage of our first Earth Week we researched several ecologically themed websites to give you some we found most distinguished. We liked GreenTech Pastures for their concisely written articles and assessments of green technologies. Presented in blog format on ZD Net they provide credible information and supportive links. They are however, somewhat similar to the multitude of eco-conscious sites springing up around the web (some with communities and green markets), in that they focus primarily in the realm of corporate programs and consumerism. We were on the lookout for something a bit different.

We eventually found Project NatureConnect (PNC), and became intrigued. Unlike anything else we had seen their goal is to completely transform the understanding of ourselves and our interaction with the environment. After a bit of research we gained the beginnings of an enlightened perspective that could help us enjoy healthier lives more in tune with our environment, family and coworkers. Aha!

What is PNC? We didn’t really get it right away as admittedly, the site is large and somewhat complex. So we called the number provided and immediately spoke to the director, Dr. Michael Cohen. He explained they have incorporated over 50 years of research into 150 nature-centered distance learning courses that can lead to a certificate, degree or doctorate; utilizing activities that help people think in the same way that nature works.

Here’s what we like about this project. 1) The student gets an interesting distance education at a fair price. 2) Their projects include teambuilding activities that can benefit the lives of their friends, family and coworkers. 3) Corporations sponsoring the project can realize a happier, healthier, more cohesive and more productive workforce. 4) It awakens consciousness of the environment and the way we interact within it. Not too shabby.

Want to learn more? Check out this link for background information on PNC. Click here for more detailed information, and you may also want to review these related articles. Then get acquainted with Dr. Cohen.

When you have a moment please enjoy this Earth Week gift, and when you have more time follow this trail.

Happy Earth Week!
